Free Stanford Lectures on Developing iOS 8 Apps and Swift Hit iTunes U

If you’ve been following Stanford University’s free iOS development courses available in iTunes U, new courses have been released today to include content for iOS 8 and Swift (via Blog do iPhone):

Course Description

Updated for iOS 8 and Swift. Tools and APIs required to build applications for the iPhone and iPad platforms using the iOS SDK. User interface design for mobile devices and unique user interactions using multi-touch technologies. Object-oriented design using model-view-controller paradigm, memory management, Swift programming language. Other topics include: animation, mobile device power management, multi-threading, networking and performance considerations.

Prerequisites: C language and object-oriented programming experience exceeding Programming Abstractions level, and completion of Programming Paradigms.

There are two lectures available, each at over an hour long. The first is Logistics, iOS 8 Overview followed by More Xcode and Swift, MVC. Both lecture slides are also available to download as well.

If you’re into lectures for learning, these might be helpful in getting you to understand iOS 8 and Swift. But if you’re a complete beginner, hands-on interactive courses are also available via our Deals Store.
