Staples Canada is launching a new pilot program with Instacart, to bring same-day delivery to the Greater Toronto Area. This is the first time Instacart is venturing into this category aside from its focus on grocery deliveries.

The following five Staples locations are participating in this pilot:

  • 3150 Dufferin St.
  • 250 Front St. East
  • 1140 Yonge St.
  • 542 Keele St.
  • 32 Steeles Ave. West

Staples says customers can have their products delivered in as fast as one hour, when they order through the Instacart on the web or the latter’s mobile app.

“This partnership with Instacart enhances our eCommerce experience, providing our customers with the added convenience of same-day delivery, on top of our already rich delivery options,” said David Boone, Chief Executive Officer, Staples Canada, in an issued statement to iPhone in Canada.

For Instacart orders of $35 or more, the delivery charge is $3.99. For those with Instacart Express memberships, unlimited free delivery is available for all orders over $35. A membership with Instacart Express costs $9.99 per month or $99 per year.

“Instacart is excited to partner with Staples Canada to test a new delivery category that many of our Canadian customers have been asking for,” said Andrew Nodes, VP of Retail Accounts, Instacart, in an issued statement.

Staples Canada says their own next-day delivery service reaches 85% of the Canadian market, to go with the company’s two-hour buy online and pick up in-store services. Instacart says it is currently accessible to over 60% of Canadian households.
