Study Discovers Top 25 Most Used Words In App Titles

The title of an application can be the most important detail a developer presents on the market — setting aside the application’s actual content. After all, the title is the typically the very first detail you notice within the App Store. So it’s always important the name is thought out wisely and thoroughly.

With the App Store containing over 650,000 applications to date, there must be many duplicate words found in the titles. While just browsing the App Store I found literally hundreds of apps containing, “HD,” and, “free,” in their titles. So what are the top used words? Let’s go ahead and find out.

Appsfire decided to run a study to find the most common term used by iOS app developers. You can view the full list below along with the total number of downloads.

I’m not sure about you, but I found it hilarious that developers continue to use the word, “free,” in titles, although it’s clearly represented by the price tag. And according to the report, developers who use the word, “free,” don’t always price the app actually free.  Among others, both, “iPad” and, “iPhone” continue to be used in titles to attract specific users more easily.
