Survey Shows Top Reasons Why People Switch Mobile Operating Systems

During their media events and quarterly earnings calls, Apple CEO Tim Cook often boasts about the large number of customers who have switched from Android to iOS. A new survey suggests that 15 to 20 of all iPhone purchases are from customers who previously owned an Android device.

PCMag has conducted a new survey, which lets us see the top reasons as to why customers are making the switch. 47 percent of the survey’s 2,500 respondents who switch from Android to iOS said it was because they wanted a better user experience, while 25 percent wanted better features like camera and design. Of the survey respondents, 11 percent switched from Android to iOS because they wanted a better price, while others wanted more apps and better customer service.

On the other side of the spectrum, the top reasons for switching from iOS to Android included a better user experience and better prices. The operating system itself did not actually matter as much among the survey respondents, however, things like the price and brand were more important.
