Apple CEO Tim Cook had a surprise visit to Canada yesterday, his first trip beyond the 49th parallel, since becoming leader of the company.

Cook visited the Eaton Centre Apple Store, where a group of students taking coding lessons were shocked to see the Apple CEO, who also posed for photographs with store staff.

Cook also had time to provide an exclusive interview with Canadian reporter Josh McConnell, regarding Apple’s latest collaboration with the Malala Fund.

Aside from visiting the Apple Store at Eaton Centre, Cook shared his Canadian adventure on Twitter in both English and French, in what appeared to be a jam-packed day in Toronto.

Cook visited the Shopify team and said “Thanks @tobi and @Shopify for showing me your latest work with AR and VR. Great to be back in Canada! / Merci @tobi et @Shopify de m’avoir montré votre plus récent travail en RA et en RV. Content d’être de retour au Canada!”

Next, Cook posted about meeting Toronto R&B soul singer-songwriter Daniel Caesar, who is currently nominated for two Grammy awards in the R&B Performance and R&B Album categories.

Loved what I heard at the studio today. Great to meet you @DanielCaesar and best of luck this week at the #Grammys.

Caesar tweeted “We got to chop it up with #TimCook today I was very shook but also very honoured. + shoutout @apple for the new gear,” suggesting he received some goodies from the company.

After that, Cook went to a Toronto Maple Leafs game, where he saw the home team lose to the surging Colorado Avalanche. He got to hang out with NHL alumni Nick Kypreos from Rogers Sportsnet in box seats:

Thanks @MapleLeafs and @RealKyper for an exciting night of hockey! Tough Loss. #GoLeafsGo

Cook also later tweeted a shoutout to year four students at Sheridan College and their Swift projects:

Congrats and best of luck to these year 4 students at @SheridanCollege, kicking off their app development projects built with Swift.

The Apple CEO finally shared one last tweet, saying “Thank you, Toronto, for showing me your culture, your passion, and your creativity! Hope to see you again soon. / Merci, Toronto, de m’avoir montré ta culture, ta passion et ta créativité. À bientôt, j’espère.”
