Twitter Adds Emoji Reaction Support to Direct Messages

Twitter has added emoji reaction support to direct messages. Now, you’ll have to option to attach one of seven emojis to any message you receive via your direct messages, very akin to the Facebook emoji reactions.

Yesterday, Twitter rolled out this new feature stating that it was “sliding into your DMs like..” and showed off the seven featured emojis. By double-tapping or clicking the heart icon next to a direct message, you can choose from the laughing, surprised, and sad emoji faces. In addition, the thumbs up, thumbs down, fire, and standard heart emoji are also readily available.

It’s worth noting that on the Twitter Support page, Twitter has said that any reaction can be undone. However, all participants in a direct message thread will receive a notification anytime an emoji reaction is added, so choose those reactions carefully!

The feature appears to now be live on both web and mobile. For those using an older version of iOS and Android that does not support reactions, Twitter has said emoji reactions will appear as text-based messages.
