According to Uber, “unique operational requirements” of all airports meant extra time was taken to get the plans in operation at EIA. The company says riders can expect to pick up their luggage and use the Uber app to request a ride, which will pick up passengers outside Door 10 on the arrivals level, at the outer curb.

“We are pleased to announce today that Edmontonians and travellers from around the world can now rely on the services of Uber upon landing at Edmonton International Airport. From today on, we will be able to meet the demand for safe, affordable and reliable transportation alternatives at the airport. By entering into this agreement with Uber, Edmonton International Airport joins more than 500 airports around the world where Uber ridesharing services are available and used by travellers,” said Ramit Kar, General Manager for Uber Western Canada in a press release.

EIA President and CEO Tom Ruth, added “We are happy to partner with Uber to meet our customers’ expectations. EIA is committed to providing travellers with a full spectrum of ground transportation options.”
