Instagram Stories are Now Viewable on the Web

Instagram has just added the ability to view Stories on both desktop and mobile web, as well as the ability to move between posts and stories by using left and right arrow icons instead of the usual tap left or right to navigate in the app. As in the mobile app, Stories will appear at the top of the page when viewed on the web. You can click into a Story to view it, then tap on the arrows to advance or go back.

According to The Verge, the company will soon also allow users to upload Stories via the mobile web, although it has no plans to let users upload photos or Stories from the desktop.

“Soon, Instagram will also allow users to upload stories via the mobile web, which might be helpful for those who go the extra length of editing their images and videos before sharing them as stories. This practice is common with brands and media companies like The Verge, but also with professional videographers and photographers”.

Instagram is rolling out the new Stories on the web feature globally to users starting today, where as the upload feature is expected to come the next few months.

The new features could well mean for some Instagram users to completely ditch the app, especially if they’re mainly using it to view and share stories.
