Walmart Canada Partners with Instacart to Offer Same-Day Delivery in Toronto, Winnipeg

Today, Walmart Canada announced that they will be partnering with Instacart to bring same-day grocery delivery to select regions in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Winnipeg.

Online orders from Walmart can now be delivered from to customers home in as fast as one hour within the two cities. In a statement, Instacart’s Chief Business Officer Nilam Ganenthiran said:

“As demand for online grocery shopping continues to grow in Canada, we’re excited to now offer same-day grocery delivery to Walmart Canada customers. This landmark pilot program marks the first time Instacart has collaborated with Walmart Canada, and we’re proud to now serve Walmart Canada’s many families in select Toronto and Winnipeg areas.”

In a statement, President and CEO of Walmart Canada Lee Tappenden said:

“Canadian families are busy, and saving time is as important as saving money,” said Lee Tappenden, President and CEO, Walmart Canada. “By teaming up with Instacart, we’re providing our customers with express home delivery of fresh, quality groceries at Walmart’s low prices every day in as little as an hour.”

The service launched in the GTA today and will expand to Winnipeg on September 27th as a part of an ongoing pilot project between the two companies. Both companies will consider rolling out into additional markets depending on the customer engagement and adoption in its initial two cities.

Customers can get started by downloading the Instacart app or by visiting instacard.ca to find their local Walmart location and place their order.
