Xbox Series X Games Now Playable on Xbox One via Cloud for Limited Testers

Microsoft has opened up its Xbox Cloud Gaming feature on Xbox One to a limited number of users enrolled in the Alpha Skip-Ahead program. Testers can now play eligible Xbox Series X/S exclusive games on their Xbox One via the cloud.

The Xbox Cloud Gaming beta is currently underway on consoles. Microsoft first began testing the feature on Xbox Series X/S, where those subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate could utilize the feature on their console. Now, as a part of the latest Alpha Skip-Ahead update, Xbox One users are joining the fold.

Xbox Cloud Gaming enables users to access Xbox Game Pass titles on a multitude of devices. Currently, Microsoft is supporting iOS, PC, Android, and now consoles. Subscribers of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, where Xbox Cloud Gaming is an additional perk, can pull their saves from the cloud and access the game without an installation. This feature works effectively the same on the console, where players can begin playing a game without installing it on their hardware first.

Back in June, Microsoft announced its plans to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to consoles and enable Xbox One users to play next-gen titles. “We’re excited to see developers realize their visions in ways that only next-gen hardware will allow them to do, the company said in an Xbox Wire post.

Microsoft will be launching Xbox Series X/S exclusive titles alongside their partners in the new year, including Redfall, STALKER 2, and the widely anticipated Starfield. Having access to Xbox Cloud Gaming on Xbox One means that late adopters of the new consoles won’t be left behind.

There’s currently no firm date set for when Xbox Cloud Gaming will be available on all Xbox One consoles.
