Pixlr-o-matic: Amazing Effects For An Amazing Price

With the growing popularity of Instagram, photo sharing apps have begun to bloom out of developers you wouldn’t have wanted an application from in the first place. Through all of this phototastic (that is a word, right?) mayhem, the creators of SketchBook have come out with an app that, like many of their other applications, is an amazing photo editor for the high price of $0.00.

Pixlr-o-matic, by Autodesk, does away with the little adjustments such as exposure and saturation, and relies completely on predesigned filters. Through a three step process, your photos can change from a bland amateur shot to a deep representation of what it is to be an iPhoneographer (I know that one is, look it up!).

Having looked through the filters, I actually can see myself using a very good handful of them. Many of them expressing different emotions and pulling out certain colours from your photo, allowing you to see it in a new way.

The filters render quickly, the borders are interesting and high quality, and the exporting options are limited but it supports exporting to the Photo Library so you can’t really complain. The only thing I can ask the developers to add in future updates, would be the ability to add multiple filters in each category.

All together I found this application quite useful and will definitely sit on my assembly line of apps for a photo I’m going to edit before throwing on Instagram. And for free, what more incentive can you ask for?

So, what’s your favourite photo editing application?
