Apple Announces Apple Watch Series 6 with Blood Oxygen App, Pricing from $529 CAD

Apple unveiled Apple Watch Series 6 today at its “Time Flies” special event.

CEO Tim Cook kicked off the virtual event by highlighting the company would only focus on two products–Apple Watch and iPad (yes, no iPhone). Cook shared stories of how Apple Watch has changed the lives of many Apple customers, specifically the heart rate monitoring feature of the wearable.

Apple Watch Series 6 comes in a new blue aluminum case, classic gold stainless steel, graphite and for the first time, a new Apple Watch in PRODUCT(RED).

The new major feature is a new blood oxygen sensor and app, able to take a measurement in just 15 seconds.

Apple is also launching new health studies with Apple Watch Series 6, including participation with the University of Toronto, among others.

Apple Watch Series 6 includes a new S6 chip, up to 20% faster than the previous generation. There’s also a new always-on altimeter, showing you your elevation in real-time.

Apple also announced new watch faces as well to allow for more customization of the wearable.

Apple Watch Series 6 pricing starts at $399 USD, or about $525 CAD (Canadian pricing to follow, stay tuned).

Also announced today was a new cheaper Apple Watch SE priced from $279 USD.

Update: Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS) starts at $529 (CAD) and Apple Watch Series 6 (GPS + Cellular) starts at $659 (CAD).
