Google Maps has brought back an app for Apple Watch in 2020, after abandoning the app back in May 2017.
An update to Google Maps on Wednesday included the return of an app for Apple Watch, allowing users to “access turn-by-turn directions and more from your wrist.”
The Apple Watch app for Google Maps only supports directions when you’ve already started them on your iPhone, as you can’t access real maps on your watch. Apple Maps on Apple Watch shows you a map view to look at places around you.
The Google Maps app for Apple Watch tells you your current trip, has shortcuts to travel times to home and work, plus you can also edit a list of shortcuts plus set your default travel mode (walking, driving, transit).
Regardless, if you’re a Google Maps user, the return of an app for Apple Watch is a welcome addition.
