Steve Jobs Biopic Will Focus on Launches of the Original Mac, NeXT and the iPod in ‘Real-Time’

Aaron Sorkin gave an interview from Hero Summit, an invitation-only ‘theatrical-journalism event’, during which he discussed his work on the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic. According to Sorkin, the movie will feature “three 30-minute scenes that take place in real-time” with each highlighting the happenings backstage at an actual Apple product announcement (co-starring the original Mac, NeXT and the iPod).

During the interview Sorkin also discussed his plans for the project, indicating he is talking to people that actually knew Jobs. He feels characters like Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak could add an authentic feel to the story, noting that: “These people revere him despite of the fact that he made all of them cry at one point. But he made all of them better.”

Whatever the details, Sorkin is being careful to avoid the macabre “cradle-to-grave structure” that this biographical tale would otherwise portray.

News that Sorkin had agreed to pen the screenplay based on the Walter Isaacson’s Steve Jobs biography has been known since May of this year, but with the project still in the early stages not much else has been announced.

Are you excited to watch this film? Do you think Sorkin can show us something about Jobs we didn’t already know? Who do you think will be cast in the leading roles?
