Periscope Surpasses 10 Million Users, “40 years of Video Watched Per Day”

Twitter’s Periscope has announced they have surpassed 10 million accounts in just after four months of launching back in March:

On August 2nd, we surpassed 10 million Periscope accounts. We launched Periscope just four months ago, on March 26, 2015. We would like to thank every single one of you for taking the time to use something that we’ve worked so hard to create. It means everything to us.

Periscope 10 million

According to Periscope, the ‘Time Watched per Day’ metric has grown significantly since its launch, with users watching the equivalent of “over 40 years of video” every single day. The company explains “We define Time Watched as the aggregate amount of time that people spend watching live broadcasts on iOS & Android.”

Periscope first launched exclusively for iOS users but quickly made itself available to Android users. The app allows users to become ‘broadcasters’ and live-stream video no matter where they are in the world.
