Apple Releases iTunes 9.1

Share:

Today Apple released the latest update to iTunes, version 9.1.

The update comes to support the upcoming USA release of the Apple iPad. However, the update also focuses on Genius Mixes and renames “Audiobooks” to “Books”:

iTunes 9.1 comes with several new features and improvements, including:

– Sync with iPad to enjoy your favorite music, movies, TV shows, books and more on the go

– Organize and sync books you’ve downloaded from iBooks on iPad or added to your iTunes library

– Rename, rearrange, or remove Genius Mixes

The iTunes update is available on Apple’s website or through Software Update on Mac/PC.

Note: As usual, if your iPhone is jailbroken or hacked in any way, I would avoid the iTunes 9.1 update until further notice.

Update: MuscleNerd via Twitter says jailbroken devices are all clear:

iTunes 9.1 safe for overall jailbreak, unlock, PwnageTool, redsn0w mac+pc, DFU mode, saurik’s server. (blackra1n broken, not Apple’s fault)

The new 9.1 update sure made havoc with my iphone for my mail. It would not recognize my mail accounts when I plugged my iphone into itunes with the latest version. But when I synced it added the 3 missing ones, but in my phone I had 2 of each. With my default email being shaw ( which I had running perfectly) it is a mess now. I am playing with it as we speak to get it back up and running properly. Wifi is good but 3G is alwasy the problem.

I have not been able to backup my (non-jailbroken) iPhone ever since I upgraded to 9.1. The backup just sits therer forever. It syncs OK after I kill the backup though.
