Looks like the old $35 plan is now $40, but they’ve now included Caller ID (used to be $6) and WhoCalled, which would’ve been a $10 add-on before.

However, the $40 plan says “Enhanced Voicemail” though, instead of “Visual Voicemail” like the $60 and $75 plans; is there actually any difference when attached to the iPhone?

(still planning to go $25 voice + $30 data (6 GB, visual voicemail) + caller ID ($6))

When I was getting my plan, I was told that enhanced voicemail is just the traditional “dial 1 and follow instructions” type thing, but with a larger (enhanced) inbox. Visual voicemail is what you want if you want to be able to see and organize your messages on the touch screen. I have it on my plan and it works very well, but obviously my plan is costing me more per month for it.

  • That is correct about the Voicemail. However, you do not always have to hold “1”, atleast not on iPhones. Just tap the Voicemail button and the voicemail will dial in.

So if im to get a 3Gs in Ontario, with the voice only, im going to have to pay 200 dollars more? (whenever they restock). I guess it works out after about 8 months and ill start saving as i dont need data.

Hey. What about data roaming plans for the iPhone? I travel to the states a lot.

I went to a kiosk on Saturday to inquire about getting an iPhone 3G with a voice plan only. I was told I could do that, but without a data plan as well, I could not get the 3G for the 99$ deal, but rather that the phone would cost me $299…

  • That is correct.
Without data, you pay a $200 premium.

I was told by a Fido customer service rep that existing customers with on a No-System-Access-Fee plan cannot purchase the iphone at 199/299 even if I want to start a 3-year contract with them… The best fido can do is for me to sign up as a new customer and get a new phone number if I want to get an iphone at the 199/299 price! I will not be allowed to keep my current number, but I can try to get my current number back after 3 months, but there's no guarantee that it would be available then. I'm not quite sure what this policy means… Why is Fido punishing its customers who are on the NSAF plans? Has anyone experienced this as well? comments?
