Have You Experienced Rogers 3G Network Downtime Today?
When I woke up this morning, I noticed I didn’t have any signal on my iPhone 4. All I got was the “Searching…” image. I reset my phone, and nothing happened. I turned off 3G, same deal. Everything appears to be working now in Vancouver, but the system wide downtime during the busiest time of the morning surely was an inconvenience for those that rely on cell service.
The iPhoneinCanada.ca inbox was bombarded with 3G network issue related emails, not just from Vancouver (Kelowna respresent!). Rogers 3G network issues have become a common occurrence lately.
Did you experience a loss of signal this morning? Whereabouts?

We will experience more issues with service due to solar flares lol
Experienced about 10 minutes of downtime in Winnipeg, but that was it. Still wishing it was a bit faster though… averaging about 2.1 mbps downloads.
Fido downtime from just after 8am until around 11:30am (with several phone reboots later). On both 3G and Edge in Richmond! I was not a happy camper.
No but Telus & Bell have had a huge amount of downtime in my area (Northern Alberta). A speed test yesterday shows a successful ping, with 0 down and 0 up.
This is not unusual for me in Burnaby/Coquitlam. December and January there were several days where 3G, texting and calling did not work (or all were down) This was confirmed by several friends on facebook on each occasion
Yeah I experienced the same problem. C’mon Rogers, we don’t pay outta our a** to have service like this.
I’m in kelowna too-from about 7am till 10am. Zero consistency, “searching” “buffeting” “no service” arrrg!
Rogers – Canada’s most reliable network…. hahaha
Im in Langley and I have had no problems
and fewer dropped c….. 🙂
a few minutes downtime in burnaby this morning in fido
Down for a bit in PEI too.
I had nothing, it was all clear for me this morning. Here in London On.
I didn’t notice anything today… Just the usual slowness.
Toronto here
No issues on southern Vancouver Island on my Iphone 4 or my Galaxy tab
I was in Richmond, BC and I am on Fido. I noticed the same thing and I thought it was something with my phone.
Kerrisdale area around 830 this morning.
Down until approx 10am up here in Terrace,BC
Yup, that’s what I was getting this morning until around 10 or 10:30 – Kelowna here too.
Super slow here in Toronto. Takes around a min to load web pages, ran a speed test and got 80 kb/ps
Same here in Kamloops 7:00am and no service called Rogers they said I had to reset my phone or get new sim card cause as far as they knew nothing was wrong with the network…ya right.

Whenever that happens I call Rogers and complain, then they give me either a discount on this months bill or free
I was having horrible service this morning in Ottawa and turned off 3G. Got better response on Edge 🙁
I’m guessing someone finally found the loose connection though. Freaky good speeds now @ 8:50pm
I found my battery life was crap all week. Narrowed it down to a lame 3G reception issue.
I’ve had issues with Rogers constantly since the release of the latest IPhone. Every time I call them, I get the same BS response… It’s obvious that they’re loading the system to the max and every once in a while it bites them in the ass., but they don’t do anything about it.
This happened to me last weekend on Bell. Bell and Rogers share the new 3g tower near my house. My Rocket Hub signal was fine all weekend but my Bell iPhone 4 couldn’t get a signal at all. By Tuesday morning, everything was back to normal. Weird!!!
I used to work for Rogers Tech during school and hated when my colleagues did the sim card dump. All they have to do is refresh the switch. If it doesn’t work then shoot up an escalation and voila. Its never the sim card lol
experienced it on fido from 7am to
around 7:45. no issues after that. i was in south burnaby area.
Not today, but this has happened to me before
Vancouver, Granville and 33rd. Dead when I woke up this morning.
Talk about Canada’s Most Relia
happened to me too, I live near metrotown, burnaby.
And it still happening to me, I can browse through my blackberry browser just fine with my data plan, but somehow I can’t use any application like facebook/twitter/urbanspoon/etc..
My Fido service was out in the early afternoon. I don’t know how long it was out for, though. I tried making an outgoing call several times before realizing I wasn’t getting any reception. I switched Airplane Mode on for a minute, then back off, and was able to make a call about half an hour after my initial attempt.
PS – this is just East of Downtown Vancouver.
Never once an issue in calgary.
Hint: usually downtime hints at network upgrading. In theory they should be able to do everything without disrupting service but people are humans. 😉 they play safe instead of loose and fast
I never use 3g. It is too slow. I use wifi or nothing.
