SaskTel Enhanced 53 More 4G Network Towers in May 2013

SaskTel has announced it has continued to make enhancements to its 4G network as it completed improvements to 53 tower locations in May of 2013 to meet customer demand.

“SaskTel has a long record in pursuing innovative and cutting edge solutions when it comes to expanding our 4G network across the Province,” said Don McMorris, Minister Responsible for SaskTel. “We are committed to building and powering the largest, fastest and most complete wireless network in the Province.”

The improvements come via the installation of carrier antennas to increase coverage strength as well as adding new cellular towers, with the following locations part of the changes last month:

  • Regina: added an in-building antennas at the Radisson Plaza Hotel Saskatchewan
  • Saskatoon: added rooftop antennas on top of Clinkskill Manor in Saskatoon’s downtown and Innovation Place at the University of Saskatchewan to increase capacity and coverage
  • Prince Albert and area: added capacity with carrier additions to towers at Victoria Hospital, South Hill, Redwing, Weyer, Deer Ridge and the Exhibition grounds
  • Cochin: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Battleford: erected a new tower to provide increased coverage and capacity
  • Crutwell: added underlay to an existing tower to increase capacity
  • Buffalo Narrows: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Loon Lake: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Beauval: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Ile-à-la-Crosse: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Red Deer Hill: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Shellbrook: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • St. Louis: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Macklin: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Luseland: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Cabri: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Pontiex: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Maidstone: added underlay to an existing tower to increase capacity
  • Cypress Hills: added a carrier to increase capacity
  • Stewart Valley: added underlay to an existing tower to increase capacity
  • Duck Lake: added a carrier to increase capacity
  • Stanley Mission: added underlay to an existing tower to increase capacity
  • Tobin Lake: added underlay to an existing tower to increase capacity
  • Spruce Home: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Green Lake: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Star City: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Candle Lake Resort: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Christopher Lake: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Birch Hills: added capacity to two towers with carrier additions
  • Meath Park: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Macdowall: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Tisdale: added underlay to an existing tower to increase capacity
  • Wakaw: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Martensville: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Fishing Lake: added a sector carrier to increase capacity and coverage
  • Kinistino: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Yellow Creek: added capacity with a carrier addition
  • Goodsoil: added underlay to an existing tower to increase capacity
  • Rural Yorkton: added a sector carrier to increase capacity
  • Canora: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Preeceville: replaced a repeater to increase capacity
  • Estevan: erected a new monopole tower, which will increase capacity and coverage
  • Weyburn: added a carrier to increase capacity and an in-building antenna on the Colosseum at the Weyburn Exhibition grounds, which will increase capacity and coverage
  • RM of Sarnia: added underlay to an existing tower to increase capacity

This April, SaskTel completed improvements at 32 different locations.
