TELUS Launches 4G HSPA+ Network in Brandon

TELUS has announced the launch of their 4G HSPA+ network in Brandon, part of a $7 million investment to further expand wireless services in Manitoba this year. Surrounding communities include Carberry, Austin and MacGregor, to go with in and around Winnipeg, Highway 59 from Winnipeg to Victoria Beach, and Highway 1 from Winnipeg to Portage La Prairie on the way to Brandon.

“Through the continued expansion of our network in Manitoba, we are able to provide even more customers with a new choice for their wireless service,” said Brent Johnston, vice-president of Mobility Solutions at TELUS. “TELUS is committed to providing our customers in Manitoba and across Canada the best wireless experience in urban and rural areas from coast to coast, and we are thrilled to offer our customers in Brandon access to our blazing fast 4G network.”

TELUS notes their 4G wireless network now reaches about 73 per cent of Manitobans. Who’s excited for this new coverage? Do note this is not to be confused with 4G LTE, but rather 4G HSPA+, with expected average download speeds of 7 to 14 Mbps.
