Kudos Payments: Another Mobile Payment System for Canada

It was only a few days ago that we reviewed Payfirma, a mobile payment system that is similar to the more popular Square but is available for use in Canada. Now NetSecure Technologies has introduced Kudos.

Square, Payfirma and Kudos all have the same premise – to allow any size of business to accept credit cards as a form of payment by using a small swipe terminal mounted in the audio jack of your phone. Kudos was developed to work in Canada and the US for the iOS, RIM and Android platforms as well as being supported on the Mac and PC.

Great! So how much is this going to cost? Initial cost is $49.99 from their website for the package that includes a swipe terminal, POS software and merchant account, but if you hurry you can get a free one for a limited time offer. After that, each transaction will cost you 2.90% + $0.20. To compare with Payfirma, they charge $99 for the swipe terminal and fees are 2.50% + $0.25 after that. Neither charge a monthly fees or additional surcharges.

I tried to download the app from the App Store and see what it could do without the swipe terminal but couldn’t seem to find it and when I signed up for an account at the site, I got a message saying “We will be in touch soon with more information.”
