Saturday Deals: 15% off Skype Plans, Griffin 10% Off Coupon Code

We have two deals to report this Saturday, and they’re pretty decent from Skype and Griffin.

15% Off Skype Subscription Plans

If you use Skype on your iPhone, it’s amazing how your long distance charges can be reduced thanks to SkypeOut plans. I’ve been using their unlimited USA/Canada subscription plan for calls to landlines over both 3G and WiFi, and it’s been awesome. It’s even better when you’re traveling overseas, as calling over WiFi is a huge saver.

For only $2.99/month it’s a no brainer. Right now if you pre-pay for the entire year, you’ll save 15% off, making this deal even better.

Griffin 10% Off Site Wide Coupon Code

If you’ve been holding out to buy some accessories from Griffin, this is the time to act now with their 10% off Summer Sale. Use coupon code ‘GRILLIN10‘ during checkout. The sale lasts until July 31st.

You can read our reviews of Griffin accessories here.

Isn’t it always 15% off when you pay for a year up front? I know I’ve paid $30.05 twice now for a year of Can/US calling.

The Skype $2.99/month deal is no more. After subscribing to it for few years, Skype managed to kick me off because of lame excuse that my credit card expired, however magically they had my renewed credit card no. for the automatic top up of my other Skype balance. So they just wanted to dump me and charge me more and would not re-instate me.
So my solution is much better deal – a FREE North America calling with Google Voice. The FREE app that works with Google Voice in Canada on iphone is called Talkatone and it works like a charm. So I now use Skype only for free calling between Skype users, for making International calls to phones I use Fring, which works with iTunes billing  and has great rates (except to mobiles in Italy) and for free calling amongst iphone users and soon Android users as well I use Viber, it’s much better than Skype, because the iphone rings even if Viber is not running. I never use up my 100 minutes with FIDO now.
