The iPhone is Coming to Canada this Summer…

…or is it? Did you get a chance to check out my first post previewing iPhone 2.0 and its features?

Well, the community at ModMyiFone.com has posted an in depth video (6 mins) of the jailbroken iPhone 2.0 (or in other words, an iPhone with 1.2 firmware, only available to official SDK developers). However, at the 3 minute and 52 second mark of the video, something interesting is shown…

Could the iPhone be Coming to Canada in June?

As the user is scrolling through the list of International language support for the keyboard, you will notice French and French (Canada). Could this be evidence that the iPhone will be indeed released in Canada once summer rolls around? I’m not one to fuel rumors (but oh man, it’s so fun to do so!), but the specific inclusion of French for French Canadians seems like a subtle hint of things to come.

Don’t forget that 30 applicants that will soon be bidding on Canada’s wireless spectrum. Maybe a mystery company will launch the iPhone in Canada. What do you think? iPhone coming soon from Rogers possibly? All I can say is I can’t wait until there is another GSM carrier in Canada. Let the data rates fall soon after hopefully!
