October 4th Apple iPhone 5 Launch Event Will Be Held At Apple Campus

Following up on early report suggesting Apple’s upcoming Media Event is scheduled for October 4th, AllThingsD has published another report claiming that expected iPhone 5 launch event will be held at Apple’s campus in Cupertino, California instead of the usual venue for Apple’s annual fall event i.e Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. There aren’t much details as to why Apple has decided to change the venue this year but since the event was too much of a “moving target”, it could be a possible reason.

According to John Paczkowski:

Perhaps, the company felt a more intimate venue was best for newly installed CEO Tim Cook’s first media event. Perhaps YBCA was simply already booked. Whatever the reason, the world will get it’s first look at the next iPhone at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium in early October.

In the past, Apple has held its big product launch events in San Francisco where iPad, iPad 2 as well as all iterations of the iPhone were unveiled. Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium has also been used on several occasions to preview upcoming versions of iOS to the press. Last October, Apple held its “Back to the Mac” media event at Town Hall to preview the new version of OS X, Lion, iLife ’11 and announce updated MacBook Air models.
