Netflix Canada Signs Multi-Year Deal with Paramount

I’ve said this from day 1, Netflix Canada will continue to keep getting better and better. Netflix previously signed exclusive rights to show the much-anticipated drama ‘House of Cards’ first, and this includes Canada. Today on the Netflix blog, they have announced a deal with Paramount. This is awesome news for Canadians!

Netflix members in Canada can enjoy theatrical hits from Paramount in the coming months starting with “The Last Airbender” and Marvel’s “Iron Man 2.” The five year agreement will add over 350 new movies available to watch instantly from Netflix in Canada, including epics like “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Titanic,” and “Defiance,” great comedies like “Zoolander” and “Wayne’s World,” and beloved classics like “The African Queen,” “Sabrina” (1954) and “Terms of Endearment.”

“We are committed to constantly expanding our selection of top new movies and TV shows for our Canadian members,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix chief content officer. “This agreement will allow them to watch some of the latest hit Paramount films as well as an incredible range of the studio’s recent and classic favorites anytime they want. Netflix and Paramount enjoy a great relationship and are proud to bring such a terrific array of films to Netflix members in Canada.”

The multi-year deal with Paramount will add hundreds of movies and the exclusive subscription TV rights to all first-run films for Netflix Canada. Apple TV works perfectly with Netflix (the integration is seamless!). A hint this deal was in the making made sense when Iron Man 2 made it onto Netflix Canada a while back.

It’s really great to see that Netflix takes their Canadian market seriously. I love Netflix it’s just the selection is poor right now but it’s nice to know it’s not how it will be forever and that they actually are working on it.

That’s great news. The only thing that bugs me about Netflix is that I can’t find out if any of the films are streamed with a 5.1 surround audio track or are they just sent in stereo. There’s no info on the site about this but in this day and age not streaming a surround track would be insane. Anyone know more about this?

Awesome. I’m a Netflix customer and there are many shows that I have not seen before so $8 is not bad of a deal.

I love Netflix. I’m a suscriber to this service and this news its great. I hope they could sign more agreements with other studios. I think Netflix is a great service for 8 cad a month, many movies, series and with instant view.

350 new movies? Are they kidding – Netflix has the absolute worst selection. There are at least a dozen bit torrent sites that have an enormously larger selection.

Netflix has a loooooooooonnnnnggggggggg way to go.

is that a joke? obviously a site that links to illegal pirated movies is gonna have lots of content
