Apple OS X AirPort Utility 6.0 Update Takes Cues from its iOS Counterpart

Share:

Last October Apple released AirPort Utility for iOS, and the layout looked pretty slick on the iPad. Today, Apple released an update to AirPort Utility on OS X Lion that resembles its iOS counterpart. AirPort Utility enables users to control and manage settings for their wireless routers such as the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, or Base Station and Time Capsules.

After installing the update, AirPort Utility took on a new, fresh look. A little red badge indicated there was a firmware update for my AirPort Extreme, and upon installing the update it was identical to how updates are applied to iOS and when installing apps in Lion.

Take a look at the screenshots below:

Definitely a cleaner look. How do you like this new update?

Version 6.0 is lame. It’s only a dumbed down version. People should just stick with their current version or only update to the 5.6 version on Apple website (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482)
