Twitter Adopts New Heart Icon for Favourite Tweets, Ditches the Star
Twitter today has announced it has adopted the heart icon for favourite tweets, dropping the star icon. The company explains “The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it.”
The change to the heart icon will also take place for users on Vine, bringing the popularity of the icon from Periscope over to these additional social networks, “making them a common language” for their Twitter’s global community.
Hearts will appear today on Twitter for iOS, the web, Android, TweetDeck, Twitter for Windows 10, along with Vine for Android and the web. Vine for iOS and Twitter for Mac will soon be updated to support the new heart icon.

When you now tap the new heart icon to favourite a tweet, you’ll see a small animation like the image above, basically a giant heart explosion showcasing your affection. Yay!
