Twitter has announced the launch of an experiment account called @MagicRecs, which will send you a direct messages containing “personalized recommendations when multiple people in your network follow the same user or favourite or retweet the same Tweet,” all based on algorithms and how you engage to various tweets.

Twitter for iPhone users will receive messages from @MagicRecs via push notifications. The point of this account, as Twitter explains, is to “help you stay in the know.” (in other words feed your internet addiction).
