Twitter Launches ‘While You Were Away’ Feature for iOS Users [PIC]

Twitter today has announced iOS users will see a new feature called ‘While you were away’, which essentially are tweet recaps of what you may have missed while away from the social network:

Our goal is to help you keep up – or catch up – with your world, no matter how much time you spend on Twitter. With a few improvements to the home timeline we think we can do a better job of delivering on that promise without compromising the real time nature of Twitter.

Recaps, marked with a “While you were away” heading, will begin to appear for all Twitter for iOS users today, and on our Android app and twitter.com soon.

The feature will roll out later to the Twitter Android app and twitter.com in the future.

While it does seem like an interesting feature, I tend to think of Twitter as seeing information in real-time. If I wanted to see a recap of tweets I missed or information like that, isn’t that what Facebook is for?
