Is Your iPhone Obsolete? Leaker Reveals iOS 27 Compatibility

iPhone 3G S Reviewed Two Days Prior to Launch
This Friday marks the big day for many iPhone lovers looking to upgrade or buy their first iPhone. The latest iPhone 3G S will be available from your local Rogers/Fido dealer and at Apple Retail stores (which revealed outright pricing of $699/$799 for the 16/32gb models). We all know that Apple is pretty good at keeping a tight lid on early product launches right?
Well, if this is the case then how did Gizmodo and Engadget, two of the major tech blogs on the net have simultaneous iPhone 3G S reviews posted yesterday at 1pm? Your guess is as good as mine, but if the synchronization of timestamps mean anything, we can infer that Apple was involved.
The iPhone 3G S is blazing fast, more so than I imagined. I say this because Gizmodo posted some excellent side by side comparisons of the iPhone 3G vs iPhone 3G S in a variety of applications such as graphic intensive games. For starters, the 3G S beat the 3G’s boot up time by almost 30 seconds!
You can read the reviews yourself–they are quite informative, but here are their conclusions of the iPhone 3G S:
Gizmodo: The iPhone 3GS is the best all-around smartphone available. If you’re looking for a refined, augmented version of what you already know, a phone that, not for nothing, runs all the tens of thousands of apps on the App Store, choose the iPhone 3GS.
Engadget: Ultimately we’re not saying it’s time to jump ship, but we’ve come to expect a bit more pedal to the floor from Apple — you’ve raised the bar guys, now it’s time to jump over it.
Jeez, after reading these reviews I can’t wait to get my hands on an iPhone 3G S this Friday, whether it is purchasing the phone outright, or taking advantage of HUP pricing on my wife’s Rogers’ account. 😉 It seems like after reading these reviews, just having firmware 3.0 isn’t enough for many people, including myself!

These are great reviews! I am quite impressed with the iPhone 3GS and how it out performed the iPhone 3G better then expected. This Friday is going to be a big day signing my life away on a 3 year contract for that 32GB and 6GB data lol I think its a good choice to get a board sometime… 😛 That buy it out price for 32GB just scared me away lol
I’d love to use my wife’s plan for a HUP but can’t do another $30/month data plan on top of my own. Looks like I’ll wait for the 4G next year.
Same…the 3G S seems compelling but I’d rather wait until next year when a completely upgraded model of the iPhone is released.
The reason all the 3Gs reviews came out at the same time (there were others) is because that is when Apple lifted the NDA with the reviewers. According to Andy Inahtko(sp?), Apple moved the NDC back one day to yesterday instead of the original today.
oops. Meant to type NDA and not NDC.
BTW: For those that done know, NDA is “Non Disclosure Agreement” that the tech guys had to sign to get a pre-release version of the iPhone.
Not sure if this has been posted or not before, but got the inside scoop regarding the HUP from Rogers for existing 3G users (under contract).
Basically to get your hands on a 3G-S from Rogers if you’re an existing customer under contract, you can get an upgrade BUT 12 months will be added to your existing contract.
The bottom line will be:
16g 3G-S $449 + add 12 months to your existing contract
32g 3G-S $549 + add 12 months to your existing contract
Question for you guys:
Scenario 1:
I currently have a 16g 3G(White) next to brand new no scratches … Do you think it will fetch $500 if I was to sell it? What would be fair market value?
If so, then the 3G-S (32g) will only cost me $49 + tax + an added 12 months to my contract (something I’m willing to do BTW)
Scenario 2:
If I can fetch $500 for my phone as described above, then the 32G-S (32g) will only cost me $299 + tax and no further contract extension (but will still have the balance of current contract to deal with)
Curious to hear your thoughts re: above

I’m sure you can easily sell it for $500. If I were you I would sell it for a bit more like $550 or $600. Buyers will look for it if you sell it on Craiglist or Ebay. Good luck!
If you do sell your 3G and buy the 3GS then NEXT year you would still be able to upgrade your smartphone handset at the lower subsidized price.
I don’t think adding an extra year to your contract would be worth it.
And like Duc said above, sell it for as much as possible. If someone is willing to buy it, then the price is right.
that sounds good but….is it anywhere in writing? There are so many pricing rumors floating around the net and Rogers won’t confirm anything. Not even what’s stated on the Apple website.
I hope the discounts are real.
its thursday afternoon and im all giddy cant wait till store opens must have must have,for me ill will be new to iphone and rogers(robbers) so cant wait
Just got off the phone with the Apple Store @ Pacific Center. You do not need a personal shopping appointment but must come early. They open @ 8am. The rep said they will not be sold out in a few hours so my guess is they have enough phones to make it at least until early afternoon. The rep did not confirm whether they are authorized to see the device at full price (non-subsidized). Reps themselves have not been given the green light on that. She said, Rogers/Fido need to confirm pricing and give permission.
Next call: to a Fido store to see if they can confirm authorization to sell @ non-subsidized price.
Geez…
Fido stores all over town are sending calls straight to vm or not answering at all. lol
guess they are fed up with all the 3G S calls but….THAT’S THEIR JOB!!!!
