iOS 5 Beta 6 Set to Arrive Next Week/Month?
According to code digging developers, 9to5Mac notes yesterday’s newly released iOS 5 Beta 5 will be released next week on Wednesday, August 17th at 5PM PDT.
@iH8sn0w claims a September 14th expiry date for iOS Beta 5:

How many betas will Apple release, before seeding Golden Master to developers? TiPB points out the history of iPhone OS and iOS betas:
iOS 2: previewed March 6, 2008, 8 betas, released July 11, 2008
iOS 3: previewed, March 17, 2009, 5 betas, released June 17, 2009
iOS 4: previewed, April 8, 2010, 4 betas, released June 21, 2010
iOS 5: previewed June 6, 5 betas to date, released ?
Golden Master seeds will given to developers before they become mainstream, and given that iOS 5 is set to launch this Fall (oh, and possibly the iPhone 5 too), the GM seed appears to be imminent.

My bad, two sources have two different dates. Take your pick.

when will goldmaster and public launch be released

It’ll be released when it’s released. Â Public launch is sometime this fall. Â Only developers get the Gold Master version. Â It doesn’t go to people who can’t even put a question mark on the end of their question.

No way the GM is round the corner. It’ll launch at the same time as the new iPhone so we’ve got at least a month before they have to submit the GM. Considering all the rumours about Nuance they’re going to need at least one beta to reveal/test that functionality when they finally pull back the curtain. Maybe we get a Beta 6 in two weeks then a GM at the start of september.

I think the first sentence needs to be revised. It doesn’t make much sense. 🙂

Posters are not usually ridiculed or attacked if they’ve used proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. One cannot see (visually) errors in someone’s speech, but when that same verbiage is transcribed (written), then any errors will be evident to those who are aware. If you don’t like someone criticizing your post’s errors, learn how to write properly. It is not the reader’s fault there are errors. They are simply pointing them out. Someone has to take a stand for correct writing.

“It is not the reader’s fault there are errors.” : I think you forgot to insert [if] before “there”.

Doubt GM is around the corner, just as much as the full release. There are still too many bugs to be worked out (OTA updates) and features to be added (speech-to-text).

No, you can say it that way, or “if there are” or “that there are.”. The “if” would only be necessary if there were some question as to whether errors were present, but the whole thing originated because of an error being found.

Please pardon the extra period after “that there are.” Once again, auto-complete rears its ugly head.
It’s similar to saying “I have to.”, vs. “I’m going to have to.” It’s optional.

isn’t the point of the new iOS to take advantage of the new processor in the new iPhone? So a simultaneous launch would be likely
