Apple Releases iTunes 10.5.1 for Download

Update: This post has been updated to indicate that iTunes Match is only available in the US.

This morning Apple has released iTunes 10.5.1 that adds the long awaited iTunes Match (U.S. Only) and a few other goodies. The update is available via Software Update and Apple’s website.

After installing iTunes 10.5.1, users can subscribe to iTunes Match through the iTunes Music Store.

The download also includes:

Introducing iTunes Match. Store your entire music library in iCloud, including music you’ve imported from CDs, and enjoy your collection anywhere, anytime, on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, computer, or Apple TV.

Tunes in the Cloud. iTunes now stores your music and TV purchases in iCloud and makes them available on your devices anywhere, any time, at no additional cost.

Automatic Downloads. Purchase music from any device or computer and automatically download a copy to your Mac and iOS devices.

Download Previous Purchases. Download your past music, TV, app, and book purchases again, at no additional cost. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer on the iTunes Store.

Sync with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5.

Wi-Fi Syncing. Automatically sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes any time they’re both on the same Wi-Fi network.

Any updates on when Canada will get this?
oh and also… will,  let’s say, “non-iTunes” (code for music that.. well.. hasn’t been purchased!) be able to upload to iCloud?

ugh for a website that’s called iphoneinCANADA, this news isn’t relevant to Canada.  Very misleading article.  No mention of the fact this is just U.S. only news.  Must of just copied and pasted from an american site.
Come on, you’re better than this.

I don’t mind the US only news. I just wish they put a [US ONLY] or equivalent tag in the heading.

I had some problems with Wi-Fi Sync as well. For it to work, Wi-Fi Sync has to be enabled in iTunes. To do that you have to connect your iPhone to your computer, open iTunes, select your phone, click Summary, and at the bottom there are six check boxes, one of which enables Wi-Fi Syncing.

Also, your iPhone needs to be plugged into a power source or Wi-Fi Sync doesn’t work.

Is there a way around it? I use an american account with gift cards but iTunes Match asks for a credit card.

Has anyone tried with a pre paid Vanilla MasterCard?

I’ve used a Vanilla MasterCard to find my old US iTunes account in the past and it worked fine.

But how about setting up iTunes Match?

Rod, I tested the Vanilla MasterCard on iTunes Match as per Gary’s May 2011 post (re: US iTunes). It works. My iTunes music library has already been uploaded into iCloud.
