This Is What Apps May Look Like On A Taller iPhone 5 [Screenshots]
Earlier this week we forwarded news from 9To5Mac in which provided proof the iPhone 5 may feature a 4-inch screen with a 640 x 1136 display resolution. Now the news outlet is back with more screenshots, this time of various stock iOS applications. The original report catered screenshots of the homescreen’s 5 rows of icons, if you haven’t yet taken a look.
It just so happens iOS 6 is capable of running the 640 x 1136 display resolution without any issues, while iOS 5.1.1 features a very stretched-out screen.
So via 9To5Mac, ‘iOS specialist’ Sony Dickson has provided screenshots of many native iOS applications on the taller display resolution. These were once again taken using the tweaked iOS Simulator.
Now that I’ve seen the screenshots, I’m really not sure if I am going to like the iPhone’s display. The narrowness seems very odd. Some additional width would’ve worked out perfectly, but then applications optimized for previous iPhones will look stretched out.
What are your thoughts on these screenshots? Do you agree that they are too narrow, or will it just take some time getting used to?

It is a nice phone, but “the perfect size”??? I wouldn’t go that far. I think it is too big. I keep my phone in my jeans pocket…the new 4.5″+ screen devices are too big to do that comfortably.
I thought the same thing as well. But with how slim and light the new S3 is I notice it a lot less than my old phone which was heavier thicker but way smaller screen.
Agreed. I was worried the s3 would never fit in my skinny jeans but quite the opposite, because how slim it is it actually fits BETTER than my iPhone 4
Whatever. Apples got you sucked in. Once you buy an iPhones you’ll line up for their next one as well.
I know. I’m sucked into Apples product vortex. New product, I have to have it. I just sell my devices a few weeks before the purported release.

I’m going to be fine after I purchase the iPhone. Change just takes time get get used to. When I first bought an iPad I wasn’t all to happy with how large the screen was, now I use my iPad everyday.
Very true. If the rumors of a new dock connector are true too there will certainly be a lot of complaining from everyone. We’ve all gotten so used to stashing the 30 pin connector cables everywhere that changing will be hard.
You know, personally, I find it looks slicker. I’m totally into this rumored new model and screen dimentions… I’ll potentially be pretty disapointed if it turns out none of these rumours were true!

Comparisons should have een relative and side-by-side, and besides, who gives a darn about graphical GUIs?? The real interest and testing should have been with respect to presentation that did require an accurate aspect ratio — e.g., photographic imagery, whether it be from the iP5’s who camera, or as displayed with Safari …
