According to a report by AppleInsider, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV will feature the same GPU technology found within Apple’s iPhone 5 and iPads, as revealed on the graphics supplier Imagination’s company blog:
Upcoming flagship devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S IV, the Alcatel One Touch Scribe HD, and the Lenovo K900 are soon to follow, making the PowerVR SGX544MP, alongside other existing Series5XTMP cores, the most popular GPU in the mobile and embedded market today.
The iPhone features the PowerVR SGX 543MP3 graphics chip in a triple core configuration, as formerly revealed in a teardown of the A6 SoC by iFixit and Chipworks.
AppleInsider notes the difference between the Galaxy S IV graphics chip compared to the iPhone 5 variant, is the the former supports Microsoft DirectX 9.3 and is said to run at a higher clock speed. Samsung formerly partnered with ARM to use their graphics technology, known as Mobi, but first switched away to Imagination’s graphics technology in January.
Does this count as Samsung copying Apple at the graphics hardware level now? Or is this just a sheer coincidence?

This is an OTS design, apple did not ‘invent’ that gpu any chip designer can choose to include it in their layout. Troll harder NG ;p
