Amazon Launches ‘Login with Amazon’ Service For Websites, Apps & More [VIDEO]

Amazon has today announced its all new ‘Login with Amazon’ service, that will enable users to sign into websites, apps and games using their Amazon credentials instead of having to remember a unique password. The new service will also help app developers to reduce “sign-in friction for their customers, leading to higher engagement and order conversion”.

Amazon login

Login with Amazon service, which will be based on the OAuth 2.0 authorization framework similar to what other companies use for verification services, has already been tested by Amazon with two of its owned properties, Zappos and Woot. According to the press release, 40% of new customers to both websites preferred to use Amazon as the login method of choice.

“Login with Amazon enables app developers and website owners to leverage Amazon’s trusted sign-in solution, allowing them to focus on providing a great experience for their customers,” said Michael Carr, Amazon Vice President, eCommerce Services. “Amazon customers now have a hassle-free way to quickly and securely sign-in to apps, games and websites, without having to remember yet another password.”

The service is free to use for app developers. For additional details about Login with Amazon, including code samples and the SDKs for Android and iOS, visit login.amazon.com.
