Compared: iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 Speedtest [VIDEO]

The iPhone 6 has been put up against the Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One (M8) in a new speedtest video posted by YouTube channel PhoneBuff.
Despite the iPhone 6 “only” (imagine air quotes here) having 1GB of RAM and the A8’s dual-core CPU clock speed of 1.4GHz, it beats the Galaxy S5 (quad core CPU at 2.5GHz, 2GB RAM) and HTC One M8 (quad core CPU at 2.3GHz, 2GB RAM).
Check it out below:
Of course this test doesn’t prove everything when it comes down to choosing the best phone, but it does go to show impressive specs on paper don’t mean everything–as software plays a part too.

Lols. That was pretty funny. This should be posted over at androidcentral or a similar android fan site.
Why does the iPhone run faster when the specs of those other phones are so much better? 64bit? Better OS?
Apple handling its own hardware and software. Custom-made A8 chip coupled with iOS makes for an efficient package.
Optimization. The iPhone has a lot less overhead that the skins that OEMs such as Samsung use. The Sense 6 interface for the M8 is lighter and as such results in faster load/resume times.
It would have been worth including a stock Android device (Nexus 5) in this test.
Should be noted that some specs in the iPhone are actually just better than Android phones regardless of optimizations, the GPU being one of them.
Ouch. 2012 specs and only 1GB of RAM they say.
I would say that it would be closer with animation disabled and Nova launcher instead of touchwiz. Just a guess… Out of the box, it is well known that touchwiz is an inferior app launcher.
Touch wiz is a whole lot more than just just an app launcher I’m afraid. It’s engrained in the entire os, and simply throwing on nova or the likes does nothing to stop it…
You are probably right. I only run aspects roms on mine… Really for me the only real advantage of Samsung is the removable battery and expandable storage.
