42mm Apple Watch Sport Undergoes Drop Test, Torture Tests [VIDEO]

YouTube channel TechRax is an iOS device’s worst nightmare. The channel posts numerous videos torturing iPhones and other tech gadgets with knives, guns, boiling water, 6000ºF torches and more. Essentially the channel is all about destroying gear in ‘creative’ ways.
If you wanted to see how the Apple Watch Sport fares in a drop test, the channel tests the 42mm version with blue band. The results are kind of surprising, as the first drop where the watch lands on its face results in the screen shattering into pieces:
Maybe this test was a fluke, but the Sport’s screen shattered on the first attempt. It’ll be interesting to see how other Apple Watch Sport drop tests fare when they hit YouTube. But then again, if you drop any watch with a glass face directly onto concrete, it probably would shatter just as easily too, because you know, physics.
Update: CNET put the Apple Watch through a torture test and it fares pretty well, until it gets smashed and destroyed by a cast iron skillet (via MacRumors):

This is redundant. I’m normally a critic, but it’s strapped onto you from morning to night. Dumb.
Apparently you forgot that the watch needs charging. Apparently you forgot some of us have marble flooring in our entrances, kitchen and washrooms. All these spots are typical places for one to leave the watch to charge overnight. The product is sub par so stop trying to save its rep. Now in all honesty, every smart watch wouldn’t fare well in this test. Neither would my old Rolex which broke being dropped onto a carpeted floor.
“Save its rep”?! Dude, I’ve been highly critical of this thing since the day it was announced and wouldn’t think to buy one. You make decent points about usage cases.
I don’t think apple watch should be tested the same way as how iPhone was tested. It should be worn on the wrist and hitting/scratching different types of surfaces – wood table top, ceramic tiles, metal poles and stuff like that
i totally agree with you. The only true way to test the durability is to be worn and hit against objects you typically would encounter on a day to day basis. I’m happy i have applecare+ on my SS version.
I would like to see a torture test on the Apple Watch with sapphire display.
I think the CNET test is quite nice… a watch is very different from a phone… Less drop and more scratch… So it’s why, I like that video who show more the danger possibilities for the watch.
Peace out? Got to be kidding me! With all the rage you have within yourself!
Hahahaha he seemed really pissed he actually broke his Apple Watch. Don’t think he saw that coming. The sapphire will actually hold up worse in drop tests but better in scratch tests.
Clearly google fan boys again
I heard samsung paid many guys to make videos like
This one. This guy is clearly making counter propaganda
His rage was fake
Especially when followed by “make your decision”
Implicitly ” buy samsung garbage “
