TTC and BAI Canada have announced free Wi-Fi has now expanded to Sherbourne, Castle Frank, Bathurst and Christie subway stations.
TCONNECT, the ad-based free Wi-Fi service, is being sponsored this month by Twitter Canada. This means those with Twitter accounts will connect automatically to the network, and remain connected for up to 12 hours at a time. Twitter accounts will be required to access the free Wi-Fi network.
Cam Gordon, Senior Communications Manager, Twitter Canada, said in a statement to iPhoneinCanada.ca “We’re excited to be partnering with the TTC to give its riders access to free Wi-Fi this December. Minutes spent in transit are amongst most popular times that Twitter users hop on our platform, so we look forward to keeping Torontonians productive and entertained while in the subway.”
Over the next 20 years, BAI Canada will maintain the Wi-Fi and cellular network across the subway system as per their long term contract. By the end of summer 2016, 25 additional stations will go online, with a complete rollout slated by 2017. Currently, only WIND Mobile has signed onto the cellular network, as the Big 3 have yet to sign on.

Anyway, service is coming to Landsdowne station too, sometimes between now and May 2016.

It says that they will maintain it though.. Not that it will take 20 years to roll out. I read on another site that they have an agreement to provide access for a certain length of time (likely the 20 years).
Yes we’ve clarified the contract is for 20 years to maintain and continue to expand the network. Current network expansion is set to complete in 2017.
Makes more sense.
