D-Link Omna 180 Cam HD HomeKit Camera Sees 26% Price Drop to $199.95

The D-Link Omna 180 Cam HD was first announced at CES earlier this year, known as the first HomeKit supported security camera. We reviewed the Omna 180 Cam HD and noted it did reasonable well as a camera with push notifications, but it was fairly expensive in Canada at $269.95 CAD.

But now it appears Apple.ca has price dropped the Omna 180 Cam HD by 26%, as the price now shows $199.95 CAD, a drop of $70 CAD. The same price drop appears on Apple.com for Americans, as it now retails for $149.95 USD ($50 off).

What makes the Omna 180 Cam HD unique is its SD card slot, which offers local storage for remote viewing of video clips, positioned to offer video camera security without monthly subscription fees. Oh, and built-in HomeKit support means easy access through Control Center and Apple TV 4.

This price drop now makes the Omna 180 Cam HD cheaper than the Canary All-in-One ($249.99) and Nest Cam ($236.05). I’ve been using the Canary and despite its lack of HomeKit support, the software features offer more than the Omna app and picture quality is clearer.

If you’ve been waiting to jump on a HomeKit camera, the D-Link Omna 180 Cam HD price drop probably just made things more interesting.
