Here are Apple’s First HomePod Ads [VIDEOS]

With Apple kicking off its pre-orders for HomePod yesterday for customers in the US, UK and Australia, the company has now shared its first ads for the smart speaker on its YouTube channel.

According to Apple, here is how it describes their first speaker: “HomePod. A breakthrough speaker. The ultimate music authority. An intelligent home assistant.”

Apple’s ads are short 15-second clips, which preview images of the speakers and inform viewers they can order it now. Check them out below:

HomePod retails for $349 USD in the US, and there is no ETA on when it will launch in Canada. Early press reviews have applauded the speaker’s audio quality, but at the end of the day it’s still limited by Siri’s capabilities.

Umm, looks like Apple didn’t put much into the budget for these ads

The ads are short and sweet, plus you don’t need to spend more if you can deliver your message in a budget, and that’s what ? has done with these ads.

Looks like the focus is audio and not any other capabilities of the speaker. So probably competing directly with Sonos and no echo or google home which are sold more as digital assitants

Siri component is secondary, the primary is music… that’s why the name is Home“Pod”, plus ? doesn’t need to compete with other digital assistants as it’s marketed as a connected home music device.

Not exactly a secret. That’s what Apple has said all along.

Remember when ads used to tell you something useful about the product?

I like these ads, plus there’s enough hype about this product that they don’t need to showcase features in the ads. Clever marketing by ? I must say.

I agree that the ads will work, but I’m a bit disappointed that consumers in North America don’t care about specs and features as much as in other countries or even as much as we used to. Check out some European tech ads or old North American ads.

It’s like the Last Jedi – it’s terribly dumbed down as compared to the ones from the 70s and 80s. But the movie did well here. Compare that to China where it bombed and articles called it “an insult to our intelligence”

I don’t mind the ads personally since I know a lot about the product already – but I’m pretty sure most people don’t yet. But would it hurt if they had the price on the screen? Or something? Anything?
