Telus Reports Higher Q4 Profit of $282 Million

Telus has today announced a higher profit and revenue for its fourth-quarter, reporting a total profit of $282 million as its revenue saw an improvement of nearly 5% compared with a year ago, the Financial Post is reporting. The company’s revenue totalled nearly $3.47 billion, up from nearly $3.31 billion in the same period a year earlier.

According to the Canadian telecoms giant, its profit amounted to 47 cents per share for the quarter ended Dec. 31, up from a profit of $81 million or 14 cents per share a year ago when it was hit by restructuring and other costs.

The Vancouver-based company also said that on an adjusted basis, it earned $328 million or 55 cents per share in the quarter, up from an adjusted profit of $316 million or 53 cents per share. Although analysts on average had expected a profit of 57 cents per share for the quarter, according to Thomson Reuters

Telus has also revealed that it added 121,000 wireless postpaid customers, 21,000 high-speed Internet subscribers and 14,000 Telus TV customers during the quarter.
