Apple Explains Why Jailbreaking iPhone is Bad in Updated Support Document

Apple recently updated its support document on jailbreaking an iOS device, detailing how “Unauthorized modifications to iOS (also known as “jailbreaking”) bypass security features and can cause numerous issues to the hacked iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.”

This isn’t the first time Apple has wrote about the issue, as the company released the document back in the summer of 2009. But a recent update on June 15, 2018, spells out the dangers of jailbreaking yet again.

The following issues are listed as perils of jailbreaking your iOS device:

• Security vulnerabilities
• Instability
• Shortened battery life
• Unreliable voice and data
• Disruption of services
• Inability to apply future software updates

Apple says it “strongly cautions against installing any software that hacks iOS,” while also adds jailbreaking will void your product warranty, as by doing so, you violate the iOS end-user software license agreement.

Last week, Chinese security researcher, Liang Chen, shared a video on Twitter demonstrating iOS 12 beta 1 allegedly jailbroken, running on an iPhone X.

With iOS 12, Apple has added various enhancements such as improved system speed, revamped notifications, Siri shortcuts and more. Is it even worth jailbreaking an iOS device anymore?
