Except for the United States and Turkey, where it is still classified by Apple as vintage, the Early 2013 21.5-inch iMac has now been officially labelled as obsolete all over the world (via MacRumors).
The product was only recently added to Apple’s vintage and obsolete products page, that lists Apple products that are no longer eligible for hardware service at a Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Providers, albeit with a few exceptions.
For those who aren’t aware, vintage products are those that have not been manufactured for more than 5 years but less than 7 years, whereas obsolete products are those that were discontinued more than 7 years ago.
It must be noted that the obsolete late 2012 iMac models are still eligible for Apple’s pilot program that allows for repairs to continue into the vintage period. However, it is not yet known whether the Early 2013 model 21.5-inch iMac will also come under the pilot program.
Apple’s pilot program for select vintage iMacs expanded last year offering repair service for eligible models by authorized service providers worldwide, subject to parts availability.
