Apple has been rumoured to be working on a way to integrate a bundle for its growing subscription services for a little while now. Now, it appears as though a bundle may be on its way sometime this year.
Reported by 9to5Mac, the iOS 13.5.5 beta code hints at the possibility of an Apple subscription bundle. Files within the code make reference to “bundle offer” and ” bundle subscriptions”, which apparently have not been included in previous iOS codes. This bundle could theoretically combine subscriptions such as Apple News+, Apple TV+, and Apple Music.
Rumours of Apple implementing a bundle subscription began popping up a few years ago. Traction didn’t fully pick up steam until November 2019, when it was reported that Apple was looking to launch a bundle as early as sometime in 2020.
However, as Financial Times has pointed out, Apple had inked a new multiyear deal with major record labels in March. The new deal does not include an agreement to pair Apple Music with other subscriptions the company offers.
As of right now, Apple TV+ costs Canadian users $5.99/month (update), while Apple News+ costs $12.99/month. Add to that, Apple Music totals another $9.99/month as well. For users heavily integrated into the Apple ecosystem, a subscription bundle could perhaps simplify payments and lessen the total costs. However, only time will tell if a bundled subscription model comes to fruition this year.
