Twitter Testing New Edge-to-Edge Design for Tweets on iOS

Twitter is testing a new edge-to-edge design for Tweets on iOS, that span the width of the timeline so your photos, GIFs, and videos can be viewed borderless in fullscreen mode.

The feature basically eliminates the need to tap on a picture just to make full use of your iPhone or iPad’s display. The test is a bid to “bring more focus to the content” as more Twitter users share media, notes the company.

“Upbeat music plays as the Twitter Home timeline scrolls up to show bold colorful images and GIFs. They begin to animate and expand, showing a new test that will display Tweets and media edge to edge, across the width of the timeline to give them more room to shine.”

It is not yet clear as to when Twitter plans to roll out this new design to all users, but for now, it is only in the “testing” phase.

The feature, once released to general public, could also help Twitter compete with the likes of Instagram, TikTok and other similar social media networks.
