Disney Plus to Launch in 42 Additional Countries in Summer 2022

Disney is planning a major expansion of its Disney Plus streaming service in 2022. By the summer of this year, Disney Plus will be launching in 42 additional countries and 11 new territories.

As reported by Variety, the expansion will see Disney Plus enter new markets across Europe, Africa and West Asia. This will prove to be the largest expansion the streaming service has conducted since its launch in 2019. The new territories that will receive access to Disney Plus include:

• Andorra
• Bahrain
• Bosnia and Herzegovina
• Bulgaria
• Croatia
• Czech Republic
• Egypt
• Estonia
• Greece
• Hungary
• Iraq
• Israel
• Jordan
• Kosovo
• Kuwait
• Latvia
• Lebanon
• Libya
• Liechtenstein
• Lithuania
• Malta
• Montenegro
• Morocco
• North Macedonia
• Oman
• Palestine Territories
• Poland
• Qatar
• Romania
• San Marino
• Saudi Arabia
• Serbia
• Slovakia
• Slovenia
• South Africa
• Tunisia
• Turkey
• United Arab Emirates
• Vatican City
• Yemen

The new territories covered by the expansion include France’s French Polynesia, Finland’s Åland Islands, the Netherlands’ Sint Maarten, the U.K.’s British Indian Ocean Territory, Gibraltar, Pitcairn Islands and St Helena and others.

Pricing on each individual country and territory has not been disclosed by Disney at this current time. It’s expected that subscription prices, both monthly and annually, will be released closer to launch.

Disney Plus first launched in the fall of 2019 in Canada, the US, and the Netherlands. Since that time, it has grown to countries such as Australia, the UK, France, Germany, Norway, Portugal, and numerous others. Disney Plus reportedly has a subscriber base of 118 million users.

Thanks to its ever-expanding content spanning Disney, Marvel properties as well as Star Wars, Pixar, National Geographic, and other classics, Disney Plus has built a robust catalogue. Additionally, the service is backed by content from FX, 20th Century Studios, Disney Television Studios, and Searchlight Pictures in the form of Star here in Canada.
