How does this work for apps like Cardhop and Fantastical since they are subscription based? Subscription for a year?
What a joke. From what I can see they’re all subscription based. Buyer beware!
You are correct! I gave up using Parallels once they went to the subscription based mode. I now use VM Fusion Player which is available for free for personal use and is non-subscription based.
Thankfully, they still offer non-subscription licence; one time fee and that’s it until you decide to upgrade to the next version. Updates to a current version are free. There is a choice between going the subscription or one time fee route, customers are not forced to go with subscription as their only option
they only update the current version for the year and then new version comes out
while better than sub still irks me
have vmfusion but even that i don’t find myself needing to use windows these days
I feel your pain but I kinda don’t have a choice because I need Windows. I try to avoid upgrading every year whenever I can get by but the upgrade cycle is as much driven by Apple’s new MacOS as it is by Parallels. Often new MacOS necessitates upgrade to the latest Parallels.
There were periods in the past when I could use the same Parallels version for more than 2 years without any glitching in Windows under changing MacOS versions, but no more.
New Windows versions also tend to break compatibility with existing version of Parallels and the Germans are happy to oblige by making a new, compatible version and separate you from your money.
Damn, I knew it was too good to be true.
