PlayStation VR2 PC Gaming Adapter Launches in August

Sony has announced that PlayStation VR2 will soon support PC gaming through a new adapter, allowing players to access thousands of SteamVR titles.
“Inspired by our passion to bring gamers even more content options, we’ve been working to enable access to additional games on PC,” said Yasuo Takahashi, Principal Product Manager at Sony, on Monday.
Starting August 7, players can purchase a PlayStation VR2 PC adapter for an estimated retail price of $59.99 USD (we’ll get Canadian pricing soon). A compatible DisplayPort 1.4 cable, Steam account, and a PC meeting specific requirements are also required for this to work.
Sony detailed the minimum PC requirements below:
- Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit / Windows 11 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 / AMD Ryzen 3 3100 (Zen 2 or later architecture required)
- RAM: 8 GB or more
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or later, NVIDIA RTX series, AMD Radeon RX 5500XT or later, AMD Radeon RX 6500XT or later
- Recommended: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or later, AMD Radeon RX 6600XT or later
- DisplayPort: 1.4 (standard or Mini DisplayPort output port)
- USB: Direct connection only
- Bluetooth: 4.0 or later
To set up, you’ll need to connect the PlayStation VR2 to your PC using the upcoming adapter and DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Then, you’ll need to download the PlayStation VR2 App and SteamVR App from Steam to customize settings and start playing SteamVR games.
While PS VR2 on PS5 offers features like HDR, headset feedback, and eye tracking, some of these will not be available on PC. However, 4K visuals, 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, see-through view, foveated rendering (without eye tracking), and 3D Audio are supported.
This news comes with good timing, as the PlayStation VR2 is on sale right now for $629 on Amazon, saving you $120 off.
