Apple Password App Finally Coming for iPhone, iPad, Mac: Report

Apple is finally going to give customers a dedicated password app, reports Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, citing unnamed sources.
The new app will be called Passwords (powered by iCloud Keychain) and will let customers easily log into websites and software. It will of course debut at WWDC and will be part of iOS 18, iPadOS 18 and macOS 15, says sources.
Apple’s existing implementation with iCloud Keychain to save passwords across devices is hard to manage as you need to dig through settings. But now, a dedicated app called Passwords from Apple will make it much easier, and also likely hurt the bottom line of password apps such as 1Password, LastPass and more.
According to Gurman, the Passwords app will let users categorize logins, Wi-Fi networks and Passkeys. Auto-fill on websites and apps will support your login data and also two-factor security codes. The Passwords app will also support Vision Pro and Windows PCs.
This is great news if it’s going to be true (it likely will). A dedicated Passwords app will allow users to opt-out of paying subscriptions for password managers like 1Password.

I am sure someone will do a comparison of Apple vs 1PW. Apple's Journal app was nowhere near the offering from the Day One.
Oh this is gonna hurt 1Password and the likes of it. If it's well done, I vote for Apple security instead
Wonder if it'll be preinstalled. If so, that could like be seen as anticompetitive behavior from Apple.
It’s already baked into Settings. How is this better?
