Nova Scotians can now access their health information through the YourHealthNS mobile app for iOS and Android.

After a successful pilot involving 15 family doctors and seven nurse practitioners at six clinics, Nova Scotia has made electronic health records available province-wide.

“Nova Scotians deserve to have access to information about the healthcare they have received,” said Health and Wellness Minister Michelle Thompson in a statement. “We have made it easier and more convenient for Nova Scotians to access important health information that will help them better manage their health and empower them to take control and become a more active participant in the healthcare they receive.”

“This marks a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing healthcare,” said Dr. Jennifer Lange, a family physician, noting health data via electronic means makes it more accessible for all.

Users can now access a variety of health records through the YourHealthNS app. This includes visits to hospitals or clinics without an overnight stay, detailing provider, location, appointment type, date, and time. It also covers IWK Health visits, VirtualCareNS appointments, hospital stays, and emergency visits, specifying the location, provider, and reasons for visits.

Also, users can view medication details, lab results, and diagnostic imaging scans, including MRIs, CTs, and X-rays, with specifics about the scanned body part, ordering healthcare provider, date, time, and location.

Nova Scotians aged 16 and older can log in to view their records, part of a broader digital health revamp that includes virtual care and the One Person One Record system. Diagnostic imaging info will be available 14 days after the order provider gets the info. It’s nice to see that you can access your health data via a mobile app, without the need to call in to an office and deal with administration.
